Digital guru Henry M. Lopez put on an excellent workshop Saturday, sponsored by the SPJ-Rio Grande Chapter. He’s posted his material on his blog site and it’s all free, well worth taking time to explore whether you are a blogger, print journalist, radio or television reporter.

Henry demonstrated the mixing of three programs to create interactive data maps for online use. (First of two parts.) The maps were just one the data visualization tools he covered.

He walked us through new methods for using social media to report on issues. He also gave us a slate of free web tools for creating graphics, editing video, editing photos and more.

Plus, Peter St. Cyr, shared a link to ChangeDetection that allows a reporter to receive regular updates from agencies and others on changes in filed reports, etc.
