They must own their audience, by every measure. They’ll marry traditional reporting techniques with digital and social media newsgathering and publishing. They’ll contribute multiple daily stories on their beat and long-form pieces for the weekly edition. They’ll have an unparalleled ability to identify companies and business leaders who are or will become newsmakers.

Position Summary: The Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track mass communication position to begin in August 2018.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include teaching a variety of introductory and skills-oriented courses in media writing, multi-platform digital storytelling and public relations, research and methods at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and other courses in the major as needed • Advising undergraduate and graduate students as well as service-related duties at the department, college, and university levels, and other duties as assigned by the chair • Teach (12 credit hour load each semester; first-year faculty teach 9 credits) in face-to-face, lecture-capture and/or web platforms

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must possess a Ph.D. in Communication or closely related field by the time of appointment • ABD may be considered. Professional experience and background in journalism, public relations, integrated media environment, television/radio or media production, or strategic communication a plus • Experience working with students, student media, and student organizations a plus Physical Demand and Working Conditions: • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

KOB Eyewitness News 4 is seeking a dynamic Producer for our Newsroom! Two years’ experience and a college degree in journalism or related field plus computer skills are required. This position is for a news producer in a top 40 competitive news market. We’re looking for a producer with excellent news writing skills, solid storytelling ability through the effective use of video and graphics, strong news judgment, good people skills and the ability to thrive as a member of a team. Our producers must thrive on breaking news, juggling numerous tasks and must be able to create high-quality newscasts under strict daily deadlines. Drive and ambition to win in a competitive environment are essential. Must have a valid drivers’ license and a good driving record, both will be checked.


We’re aggressive about breaking news and ensuring we’re not only first but the best source in our market. Our producers are crucial to our success. Your responsibilities will include “producing” not just stacking newscasts, writing updates and teases, writing for the web, coordinating news coverage, and helping with special projects. We want producers who have passion about the day’s news and what they want to see in their newscasts. Successful candidates must be able to guide reporters and other staff members in areas such as putting together story elements and the effective usage of graphics and pre-production. Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
