The Daily Times in Farmington, N.M., is looking for a skilled editor with social media experience to fill a newly created Night Editor position. The person will be an integral part of a three-editor team that oversees a group of reporters who are taking on challenging stories daily.

The position involves editing late breaking stories, mentoring reporters, tweeting and making Facebook posts, filling out elements of the paper that include skyboxes and rails, working with our designers at a hub in El Paso to ensure the final product is of high quality, tracking down production issues, etc.

This person will be the newsroom’s last eyes on the paper before it goes to press.

The Night Editor also will be responsible for putting together a weekly arts and entertainment insert, which will include reporting and writing stories, and assigning photos.

Basic requirements include mastery of AP style, grammar, spelling and active writing. The position is salaried and includes supervisory responsibilities for a small group of reporters.
