The Department of Communication at Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, NM, invites applications for a full-time, 9-month position to begin in August 2014.
Responsibilities include serving as the news director for KENW (on-campus PBS affiliate) and producing student-staffed, daily newscasts during the academic year. In addition, the instructor will oversee practicum sections in public relations and other media produced by the department, and teach 1 (3-credit) traditional undergraduate course per semester, advise students, and execute other duties as assigned by department chair.
Basic qualifications: Undergraduate degree in communication or related field; Managerial experience in television broadcast news including news gathering and creation of news packages.
Preferred qualifications: Graduate degree in communication; Experience in new media and journalism; Post-secondary teaching experience.
The successful candidate will be expected to build upon the collegial and mutually supportive relationship between the department and KENW, serving as both an educator and as a news professional.
