The New Mexico Press Association Foundation and the New Mexico Scholastic Press Association will co-host the 2018 High School Journalism Workshop. It takes place June 10-13 at the University of New Mexico.

Participants will spend three days learning how to put together a newspaper in both traditional and digital formats. Topics covered include reporting, photography, page design, copy editing and story editing as well as some basic media law, ethics and the importance of transparency in government.

This workshop is perfect for high school newspaper staffers and bloggers as well as yearbook staffers or anyone interested in journalism. Eligible participants are incoming high school juniors and seniors who can attend the whole workshop and are able to stay on campus.

The workshop costs $150, which includes room and board in UNM’s new dormitory, as well as class materials. Scholarships are available thanks to the member newspapers of the New Mexico Press Association and the Association’s foundation.
