Albuquerque Business First is looking for a digitally savvy scoophound for a paid summer internship.

This is an opportunity for a talented student journalist to get a taste of life in our award-winning newsroom and get exposure to a media company with national reach that’s doing exciting things. Our 2015 summer intern is now lead designer at the Orlando Business Journal.

The successful intern candidate would have plenty of opportunities to write bylined stories for our website, and potentially for our weekly edition. They’d get to do some copy editing and work on special publications and projects.

Our deadline for potential candidates to have materials to us (including a resume, some great published clips and strong references) is April 20.

This internship could begin as early as mid-May and last up to three months. It could be 20 to 40 hours a week.

Required skills: Exceptional source development and news judgment

Polished writing

Demonstrated experience breaking news online

Ability to work independently and remotely

Strong analytical and investigative abilities

Demonstrated success using social media as a newsgathering tool

Ability to shoot photos and video

Experience: Proven ability to write and report. Published clips show that best.

Education: High school degree; some college.

Working conditions and physical requirements:

Reports to editor-in-chief and managing editor. General office environment. Extensive computer use required. Some travel required. Ability to work flexible work schedules, including nights, weekends and holidays. Attendance at both ABF and industry-related events required.
