Qualifications: 

Applicant should have two years’ experience as a reporter/producer for a network affiliated television station.  We’re looking for a reporter with excellent news writing skills, solid storytelling ability through the effective use of video and graphics, strong news judgment, good people skills and the ability to thrive as a member of a team.

Our producers must thrive on breaking news, juggle numerous tasks and must be able to create high-quality newscasts under strict daily deadlines. Having the drive and ambition to win in a competitive environment are essential. The right reporter/producer will enterprise from Day One. They will pitch and turn original stories true to the KOB brand.  Immediately, the requirement is 50% enterprise reporting. Applicant will handle a variety of news reporting assignments.

We emphasize Breaking News and stories that hold people accountable. This reporter must be able to get answers to tough questions.  We are active, live storytellers. If you are not moving and showing viewers something on your reel, please don’t send it. Active live shots are the expectation at KOB Eyewitness News 4. This multi-talented reporter must write-it-like-he or she-talks-it, can deal with confrontation, and must be able to work at a high level with multiple hard deadlines every day. The right candidate will use the Web and Social Media as second nature to push viewers to our broadcasts, develop a high personal profile and cultivate stories.  Our reporters are well-coached with an emphasis on weekly, sometimes daily, feedback.  You must be coachable and have the ability to receive and apply constructive coaching advice.

Duties: 

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Travel to scenes where news is happening.  Writes, produces, and reports under deadline pressure. Ability to work flexible hours is a must. You must have a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and be insurable. Applicant’s driving record will be checked.

We’re aggressive about breaking news and ensuring we’re not only first but the best source in our market.  Our producers are crucial to our success.  In addition to reporting, your responsibilities will include producing, writing updates and teases, writing for the web, coordinating news coverage, and helping with special projects.  We want producers who have passion about the day’s news and what they want to see in their newscasts. When producing, the successful candidates must have the ability to guide reporters and other staff members in areas such as putting together story elements and the effective usage of graphics and pre-production.  Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned by supervisor.
