Web Producer at KRQE (part-time)

JOB SUMMARY:  Produce and distribute content elements across several media platforms for krqe.com. Though the job is primarily
publishing written news stories online, it also includes digitally marketing content through social media, apps, and other technologies. Multimedia news producing requires someone who can quickly multi-task under pressure while remaining composed, professional and think critically. The candidate must be able to learn new applications and systems, and be comfortable in a digital environment while asserting solid news judgment.   The schedule calls for weekdays, weekends and cover for vacations and sick days.

The job would guarantee up to 25 per week with additional hours as
needed.

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Knowledge and understanding of various media
    platforms.
  • Basic understanding and demonstration of multi-media file formats and strong computer skills.
  • Understand importance of social media.
  • Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills.

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Communication/Journalism or
related degree required.   Two years minimum experience in
news-gathering and/or production. Experience writing, producing and editing content on a desktop editing system.

KOB Seeks Photojournalist

QUALIFICATIONS: 

At least two years’ experience as a television news photographer or a closely related field.  Must be able to demonstrate the ability to operate TV news field cameras and videotape editing systems. Must be able to edit with AVID editing systems. Must be able to demonstrate ability to visually represent news stories.  Will work closely with reporters and producers. Mac and Windows computer literacy is required. Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record. Driving record will be checked.

DUTIES: 

Responsibilities will include, but not limited to: Photography and editing TV news stories.  Operating field TV news gathering cameras (Panasonic HPX370 P2), videotape/digital editing equipment and software. Driving and operating live trucks, microwave and ENG equipment. Must be proficient on AVID editing systems. Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

The following physical requirements are typical, but not all-inclusive: Carry equipment weighing approximately 45 lbs. Climb stairs. Drive larger news vehicles. Full mobility is necessary to move quickly to shoot news stories and events. Some of the work is done in a very confined area.

KRQE Seeks Digital Executive Producer

KRQE Media Group a CBS Affiliate in Albuquerque, NM has an immediate opening for a Digital Executive Producer (DEP). The DEP reports to the Digital Director with the role of owning the editorial presentation of our digital properties. The DEP will manage the
digital content producers and have oversight of broadcast producers, reporters and photographers. Newsroom workflow, task delegation and assignment abilities are paramount. This position should be recognized by the level of urgency brought to bear on the everyday digital execution of the brand.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

– Produce and manage quality news content on all
digital platforms

– Assign tasks to digital content producers and other newsroom staff as necessary (e.g., breaking news), ensuring production deadlines are met

– Hold reporters accountable for daily posting routines in the field

– Provide employee feedback on a continuous and regular basis (positive & constructive)

– Ensure content reflects brand across desktop and mobile

– Work in tandem with other News Directors & Managers

– Execute breaking news on all platforms including: apps, social media, email alerts

– Develop and maintain new sections of the website as news coverage dictates

– Plan for the long-term growth of the sites, set priorities and plan coverage for major events

– Manage social media – station staff posts and moderation of user comments

– Adhere to all guidelines, policies and procedures of station, Company, the FCC, and all other federal, state and local laws; ensuring content complies with legal requirements concerning libel, slander and First Amendment laws

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism or equivalent experience; plus 5 years experience in content management systems with strong
skills in editing video and images. Must have working knowledge of web standards and protocols.

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements:

High stress environment with deadline pressures. Must be available to work irregular/odd hours, weekends and holidays, and be on
call to cover major events 24 hours a day. Position may require travel to cover major events of significance to station’s audience.
